1996 National Junior Men Coach’s Report

I believe that aspiring coaches, players and administrators will find the attached report both interesting and useful. As can be seen from its content, one year prior to the 1997 world championships, at the tournaments in Slovakia and Greece, we lost most of the matches.
But at the WC in Cuba, we left many of those and other strong teams behind and came fourth for the second time in the Australian water polo history. In Havana, we came very close to becoming world championships medallists (see my previous post ‘Australia’s Blood in the Water – Happy Australia Day’).
In the attached photo is the New South Wales team, winner of the National Junior Men’s crown: back row (from left), Robert Clark, Luke Copas, Thomas Whalan, Sean Boyd; middle row, Les Kay (coach), James Moar, Alistair Visch, Adrian Bolt, Rod Messant, David Woods (Manager); front row, Nick Falzon, Gavin Woods, Ryan Moar, Peter Soros, Dean Semmens.
